{Sunday, August 01, 2004 . Wonderful Weekend}

WOW. words cant describe how great my weekend has been. I made some wonderful new friends. Plus I met some friends that I haven't seen in many many years.

Ever since friday night, I have been at UCR attending the 10th annual CFC Youth Conference Reunion. I learned so many new things and I enjoyed myself so much! The Talks were excellent, I actually sat through all of them with full interest! The workshops were very informative and I learned about many programs like "Go 4 Gold" and "GK777" and "Genesex".

I don't think any of you have experienced a weekend like mine. Maybe something similar, but not as great as mine ^_^.

Let me tell you a little bit of background of YFC, also known as Youths For Christ.

YFC was started by CFC (Couples for Christ) 10 years ago. In the following years, CFC went from state to state, starting up YFC programs in local parishs. In 9 years, they put YFC in 27 states.YFC then started the program "Go 4 Gold". The goal was to get all 50 states in one year. On July 27, 2004, 2 days before the 10th Conference, it was announced that YFC had touched ALL 50 states!

1600 people attended the Conference! And there were members from all 50 states! The energy in the UCR gym, the emotion was so intense! The 1600 were only the youths, not counting any of the CFC, SFC (Singles For Christ) and parents that also attended.

Genesex was started by YFC at this conference. The goal of Genesex is not to lower the abortion rate in the US, but to elimiate abortion all together!

The program there that touched me the most was "GK777". GK stands for the Filipino words: Gawad Kalinga, which translates to Giving Care. The 777 stands for (this is amazing): 700,000 Homes in 7000 Communities in 7 Years. "GK777" plans to do all that. Already they have started building homes in many communities in the Philippines. They plan on turning the Philippines from a 3rd World Country to a 1st World Country. GK777 has been recognized by the United Nations and together they are starting to make plans on bringing GK into other 3rd world countries.

In one GK meeting, they raised enough money to build houses for 8 villages, about 800 families. In the GK workshop, the people in the room counted up how much money that they had with them, plus they counted how much money was worth in the items in their bags and pockets. It came out to around 7000$, thats enough to buy 7 houses for 7 families. If you want to know more about GK777 go to www.gawadkalinga.org .

Its so amazing how much CFC, SFC and YFC are doing for the world. I was so touched and inspired by the people there. It was so much different than a regular local church community. I've have never sang that much in my entire life, nor that loud or with that much feeling. I've made a close friend. He and I are quite similar. I absolutely loved being there.

Ka. When Ka comes, it comes like the wind.
